Testing to Make an ImPACT on Concussion Recovery

Many of today’s athletes are faced with difficulties returning to the game after suffering from a concussion. To help athletes measure the severity of the concussion as well as the symptoms, Heartland Orthopedic Specialists offers the Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) for area players.

ImPACT’s goal is to evaluate the post-injury status of an athlete and ensure their safe return to the field. Suffering from a concussion is a serious condition and should not be taken lightly. Returning to action after suffering from one takes time and care. Administered by a Heartland Orthopedic Specialists’ expert, the ImPACT evaluation system takes no longer than half an hour and tests reaction and response times, memory, problem solving, and attention span.

After the participant has gone through the different steps of ImPACT, a comprehensive score will be given.
