Who Is Helping Athletes Behind the Scenes?

Offering prevention measures, injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, athletic trainers are on the frontlines in the battle to keep athletes in the game. One of the ways that the sports medicine program at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists helps in this fight is by offering a full team of experienced athletic trainers to area colleges and high schools.

Working in clinic and on-site at area sports facilities, the athletic trainers at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists have a wide array of knowledge and expertise on how our bones, muscles, and joints operate. Below are three of the eleven Athletic Trainers that work closely with the specialized surgeons at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists:

Rich Hardy
Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
University of Minnesota-Morris

Meagan Christenson
Athletic Trainer
West Central High School (Barrett)

Chris Siegel
Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, EMT
Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Fergus Falls
Hancock High School

“One of the great aspects of the sports medicine program at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists is that the entire program operates as a team,” says Dr. Eric W. Nelson, a sports medicine expert at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists. He goes on saying, “From the athletic trainers on-site to our experienced physicians, the entire process helps ensure that an athlete is treated in a timely and proper manner.”
