Another Successful Workers’ Compensation Event in the Books!

At the Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI), our physicians and staff pride themselves on their expertise in work-related illnesses and injuries related to workers’ compensation. We understand the special challenges presented by industrial injuries and illnesses, and work to improve the understanding of those challenges through our bi-annual workers’ compensation seminar.

On Friday, December 2, 2011, the Southern California Orthopedic Research and Education Center (SCORE) hosted another successful workers' compensation seminar at the Sheraton Agoura Hills Hotel. Specifically to assist claims examiners, nurses, case managers, occupational medicine physicians, physical therapists, and other interested workers’ compensation professionals, the seminar provided timely and informative lectures by SCOI physicians on current orthopedic and physical medicine treatments, while offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

The latest workers’ compensation event focused on the following topics:

• The use of an ultrasound for diagnosis and treatment.
• Recognizing the symptoms, causes, and treatments of nerve compression problems around the elbow.
• Understanding the techniques available for treatment of cartilage injuries of the knee and shoulder.
