Meet Our Newest Physiatrist, Dr. Gopi Kasturi!

Dr. Gopi Kasturi is the newest physiatrist to join the expert team of doctors at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics. As a board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Kasturi’s expertise includes all areas of physical medicine and rehabilitation care and pain management techniques, including the use of physical therapy prescriptions, injections, and electromyography to help alleviate pain.

“Through my work as a physiatrist, I’m able to help people who are suffering from injuries or conditions that affect their movement through nonsurgical techniques,” Dr. Kasturi says. “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to share my expertise with residents of the Fresno area.”

After receiving his medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India, Dr. Kasturi completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He then went on to complete a research fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University and Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation and pain management, Dr. Kasturi has a keen interest in osteoporosis. He has written and lectured extensively on this topic.

Prior to his position at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics, Dr. Kasturi served as chair of the interdisciplinary chronic pain committee at the Fresno VA Medical Center, where he was instrumental in advancing pain management and rehabilitation services to area veterans.

Dr. Kasturi is also an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, North American Spine Society, and International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
