Spine Procedure Offers Better Stability

The ALIF procedure is a less invasive spine technique that is similar to posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF), with the exception that the ALIF approaches vertebrae fusing through the side, rather than through the lower back.

“After approaching from the side, bone grafts and anterior interbody implant cages are inserted,” says Dr. Henry E. Aryan. “There is a distinct advantage to having the ALIF procedure because the back muscles and nerves remain undamaged.”
