The Orthopedic Team Physicians for University of Oregon Athletics Since 1967
Since 1967, the physicians of Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine have displayed their commitment to athletic care as the Orthopedic Team Physicians for University of Oregon Athletics.
The practice’s founder Dr. Donald B. Slocum, M.D., began to study the lasting implications of sports-related injuries in the early 1960s, and his desire to help injured athletes return to their full function caught the attention of University of Oregon coaches. The result would be the 45 year partnership that followed between the Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and the University of Oregon Athletics Department.
“For us, there has been no greater reward than contributing to such an extraordinary athletic program alongside this talented group of athletes and professionals,” says Dr. Rudolf G. Hoellrich.
The collaboration of care amongst Slocum physicians requires a level of commitment that differentiates Oregon Athletics from others in the Pac-12 and the nation at large.
The Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine physicians also serve as orthopedic providers for the following eight area high school athletic departments: Churchill High School, Marist Catholic High School, North Eugene High School, Sheldon High School, South Eugene High School, Springfield High School, Thurston High School, and Willamette High School. Parents and athletic directors trust the Slocum Center for their students’ injuries and treatments.
